Name Origin
The term refers to the Border Reivers, who were a group of raiders and outlaws that operated along the Anglo-Scottish frontier from the late 13th to the beginning of the 17th century.
Reiving (raiding) was a way of life and a means of survival in the lawless and impoverished border region, which was a buffer zone between Northern England and Scotland during centuries of sporadic warfare.
