Stone lifting is a traditional test of strength with documented examples across Britain and Europe. Historical records, folklore, oral traditions and academic research provide evidence of its place within cultural and physical heritage. English Stonelifting aims to preserve and develop this record by documenting England’s lifting stones, their histories, traditions and communities, while distinguishing documented history from modern revival.
