History

The stone is situated close to the site of an old village school near the alpaca farm in the New Forest, Hampshire. The school was destroyed by fire in the 19th century. Local accounts tell of the boys attending the school being sent to fetch buckets of water from the surrounding land in an attempt to extinguish the blaze.
