Name Origin
The name “Nicky” likely comes from Old Norse and Germanic words—Nixe, Nack, Nykr, Nokk—for shapeshifting water spirits that lured people to danger. In Beowulf, similar creatures called “Nicors” haunt watery moors, akin to the Grindylow and Lancashire’s Jenny Greenteeth, who dragged the unwary beneath the surface.

Stone Placement
Discovered and placed by @dances_with_stones on the bank of the Grizedale Brook, below Nicky Nook Fell. This stone is part of a two stone circuit, the second stone is positioned 100m on the path from its brother stone the Nook Stone.
