Name Origin
Named after the moor the Stone sits on. Stanton comes from the Old English Stan-tun (stone settlement). Stanton Moor is home to numerous burial monuments and four stone circles. 

The Brigantes or Corieltavi were likely Iron Age tribes that followed the Neolithic Britain's that placed the original stone circles.
