This Stone is part of the wider Stanton Moor Stone Circuit based around an ancient 4000 year old Bronze Age area. The Stones include Beltane Stone, Dryade Stone, Grey Lady Stone, Little Stanton Stone, Pilgrim Stone, Ravens Head, Stanton Stone and the Tonn Stein (Tooth Stone).

Name Origin
The stones name originates from where it sits on the moor. Stanton Moor is home to numerous burial monuments and four stone circle. The Brigantes or Corieltavi were likely Iron age tribes that followed the Neolithic Britain's that placed the original stone circles.
