Name Origin
The name Binsey is thought to originate from a combination of two old Norse words; “Bingr” (Heap) and “Haugr” (hill).

Stone Placement
Discovered and placed by @dances_with_stones.  The stone sits just off the summit of the most northernly Wainwright - Binsey in the Lake District at 447m elevation marked by a Bronze Age burial mound (c. 2500–800 BCE) now topped with a modern cairn.

History
The Fell top honours the ancient Brittonic tribes of the Bronze and Iron Ages, including the Carvetti — “the deer people” — who occupied the area from at least 200 AD. They worshipped several gods, notably Belatucadros, their war deity.
